Topic: Live A God-Dependent Life

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 12:6-10

We often approach life’s challenges with a sense of our own limitations. We analyze tasks based on our skill sets, energy levels, and available time; and we can quickly become overwhelmed by the sheer demands. When faced with an issue beyond our control, the tendency is to be in a state of worry, anxiety and panic, with a feeling of inadequacy. The world tells us to grind, to push harder, and strive for perfection through sheer willpower. However, for the believer, there’s a profoundly different and liberating truth: our strength for every endeavour is not found in our natural ability but in the boundless power of God.

Understanding this truth shifts our focus from self-reliance to divine dependence. When we acknowledge our weakness, we open the door for God’s strength to be made perfect in us (2 Corinthians 12:9). This doesn’t mean we become passive or irresponsible; rather, it transforms our effort. We still work diligently, but we do so with an underlying confidence that the Holy Spirit is empowering our hands, minds, and spirits. We pray for wisdom, seek His guidance in decisions, and trust that He will provide the endurance and resources needed, even when our own seem to fall short. This divine partnership enables us to accomplish far more than we could ever imagine on our own.

Therefore, as you face your responsibilities today, be released from the burden of needing to be sufficient in yourself. Instead, consciously invite God’s strength into every task. Begin with prayer, acknowledging your need for His help. Work with diligence and excellence, knowing that your efforts are a form of worship, empowered by His Spirit. When challenges arise, instead of defaulting to worry, lean into His promise to sustain you. By walking in the strength of God, your labour becomes less about your own striving and more about His glory, bringing forth fruit that endures and a peace that surpasses all understanding.

Prayer: Father, my confidence is not in my strength or abilities. I depend on You to grant me the strength and wisdom I need, by Your Spirit.
