Topic: Strength To Recover What Was Lost

Scripture: 1 Samuel 30:1-8

Jesus did not mince words when he said, “In this world, you will have tribulation.” As people of God, we are not immune to challenges and adversity. Hence, we cannot judge the faithfulness of God by the presence or absence of trouble. Rather, we acknowledge the comfort and strength He provides to make us overcome every obstacle.

David, a man after God’s heart, knew too well how to receive strength from God in the darkest of times. David’s family and the families of his armed men had been captured by the Amalekites, and the city had been burnt. And to make matters worse, his trusted soldiers began to question his leadership and thought of stoning him. He could have given up. He could have forgotten about the prophetic word over his life and just allowed grief and depression to consume him. But David had a genuine relationship with God, so in the midst of the pain and chaos, he turned to God and found strength; he encouraged himself in the Lord.

God did not just give David comfort. He gave him the strength he needed to recover everything he lost. When faced with challenging times, remember that there is comfort and strength in God. This is not the end. Embrace the love of your Father, and receive the grace to overcome every challenge. Because you are born of God, you overcome!

Prayer: Father, I receive grace and strength to overcome every challenge of life. Because You are always with me, I am more than a conqueror.
