Topic: Lift Up Your Eyes
Scripture: Genesis 13:5-17
Very often, the defining moments of our lives are preceded by events that are far from glorious or perfect. From the natural perspective, everything may seem ordinary, stressful, and sometimes, even heartbreaking. But the move of God’s Spirit cannot be discerned by our natural senses. We need to step out of the limitations of our human reasoning and allow the Spirit of God to reveal to us what the Father is doing in this season.
Abraham had journeyed with his nephew, Lot, until a time came when there was strife and division among their herdsmen. It was time to separate, and it was not a pleasant moment for Abraham. Lot meant a lot to him, so much that Abraham later went to war against four kings to rescue him. But at this point, it looked like this season was going to be defined by the pain of separation. Fortunately, God stepped in to give Abraham the right perspective for the season.
Rather than dwell on Lot’s departure, Abraham had to lift up his eyes to see that he was standing on the land his descendants will inherit. The season was not about Lot, but about the nation Abraham was birthing. You may be dealing with your own “Lot” situation; something that troubles you, grieves you, or takes away your peace. But if you can lift up your eyes to God, you will realize He is inviting you to a new level, a deeper experience with Him. Lift up your eyes! Something great is coming your way.
Prayer: Father, I fix my eyes on You. As I behold You in this season, I will be changed from glory to glory!
