Topic: Prepare For The Harvest
Scripture: Luke 10:38-42
God has a harvest prepared for you. But are you ready to receive it? In the parable of the sower, Jesus talked about seeds that fell among thorns. There would have been a great harvest on that soil, except that the presence of the thorns choked the seed. The seed is the Word of God. The thorns are the things we worry about; the cares of the world. So, in essence, by worrying, you choke the manifestation of God’s Word in your life.
Martha and Mary had the opportunity and privilege to host Jesus in their home. But unfortunately for Martha, thorns began to creep into her heart. She became worried about all that needed to be done, and she was upset at Mary, who was just focused on Jesus. It looked like her worrying was righteous because it was about hosting Jesus. But it was simply a thorn robbing her of the blessing of the moment.
There is no blessing in worrying or being afraid, even if it is for a godly cause. The blessing of the moment went to Mary because she knew how to focus on Jesus rather than fill her heart with worry. Whenever you focus on Jesus, you encounter the peace that will uproot every thorn, and you also build capacity to receive the fulfilment of God’s Word to you. Your harvest is here. No more thorns.
Prayer: Father, I fix my gaze on You. I uproot every thorn of anxiety and worry in my heart. And by Your Spirit, I enlarge my capacity to receive my harvest.
