Topic: In God We Boast
Scripture: Luke 12:16-21
To boast is to praise or express extreme satisfaction in one’s achievement, possessions, or qualities. It is an outward expression of your inner confidence and pride in the subject of your boast. And by it, we can determine your source of fulfilment in life. However, there’s such a thing as an empty or vain boast.
When a man places his fulfilment in something that cannot last, that boast is vain. The rich man in our anchor text was being boastful about his wealth, not knowing he would be gone in a moment, and the wealth would be of no use to him. The wise and intelligent person must know that there are things that the wisdom and intelligence of men cannot figure out. There are challenges that the best of connections cannot fix. Why then would you boast in something that has no eternal value?
To make your boast in God is to place your confidence in One who is eternal, does not change, and cannot be overthrown. It is to ensure that your fulfilment in life will remain the same in every season and every circumstance. To boast in the Lord is your guarantee that God will always go before you to prepare the way, that He will guard you jealously, and that His glory will continually be seen in your life. A boast begins within you, but it must be expressed on the outside. It is time to make your boast in the Lord.
Prayer: Father, my confidence is in You. I make my boast in You because nothing else is worthy of my praise.
