Topic: The Cross And The Crown
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 9:18-27
“Don’t you see that these things had to happen, that the Messiah had to suffer and only then enter into his glory?” – Luke 24:26. This was Jesus’s response to the two men heading to Emmaus. They had been discussing the suffering of Jesus and felt sad that such a good man had to endure such pain. They couldn’t recognise Jesus when he joined them, but they listened as he explained that the suffering was necessary for him to enter his glory.
Every disciple of Jesus has a crown prepared as a reward. But your ability to take up your cross, following Jesus, is the qualification required for the crown. Without enduring the cross, you cannot enjoy the crown. The good news is that the glory of the crown is far greater than the pain of the cross.
The cross is a symbol of self-denial and sacrifice. Every disciple must experience this before they can truly experience glory. The cross is not a punishment but a process of refining and equipping. This is the reality of every true disciple of Jesus on earth. May God grant you the grace to endure your cross in order to fully obtain the crown of glory prepared for you.
Prayer: Father, I fix my eyes on Jesus, and I receive strength to overcome in order to experience the fullness of Your glory.
