Topic: Trust In God’s Plan
Scripture: John 11:1-21
We serve a God of purpose, plans, and strategies. He declares the end from the beginning, upholds all things by the Word of His power, and accomplishes all things according to His sovereign will. Everything was created for His pleasure, and despite all the schemes of Satan, God has the final say. But sometimes, certain seasons of life can make us question if there really is a plan of God for our lives.
When Lazarus fell sick, his sisters, Martha and Mary, figured out, in their own thinking, what God was going to do in this situation. They were going to send a message to Jesus, and then Jesus would rush over to their house because he loved Lazarus, then he would lay hands on Lazarus, and he would be healed. It was a solid plan. Except that, when they sent the message, Jesus did not rush over. As days passed, Lazarus’ condition got worse, and there was still no sign of Jesus until he died. At that moment, Martha and Mary accepted that the plan failed, and it was over.
Four days after Lazarus had died, Jesus showed up in Bethany to fulfil the plan of God. It was their plan that failed, but God’s plan was just about to unfold. Lazarus was not going to be healed from sickness. He was going to be resurrected from the dead. That was the plan all along. When all we know and all we have planned for doesn’t seem to work, we must rely on His superior plan that never fails. The presence of uncertainty is not the absence of divine purpose. You can trust God in the chaos because He has a plan for you, and He will bring you to that glorious destination.
Prayer: Father, in the midst of challenges and disappointments, I trust in Your plan for my life.
