Topic: The Word Effect
Scripture: Isaiah 55:7-13
We all have that one friend/relative whose words we no longer take seriously. That one that makes a promise to do something, and yet will always disappoint you. They make an appointment, but they never show up at the agreed time. You need them to accomplish certain tasks, and it never gets done. And you get to a point where no matter what they tell you, there is now a constant expectation that they will not stick to their word. Their words have no positive effect.
In our anchor text, we see God, our Father, describing the effect of His word on earth. His word never returns to Him empty, it never disappoints. Just as rain has an effect on the earth, making it fruitful, God’s word creates an effect in your life, producing godly results. Just like a dry, barren land needs water in order to flourish, any life that is in dryness needs to be exposed to God’s word to experience new life.
There can be no true fulfilment outside of the Word of God. And yet, many people shield themselves from it. They don’t take time to study it. When they hear it, they dismiss it in their hearts with their natural reasoning or allow the issues of life to create doubt. Today, allow the Word of God to have access into your heart. Let it dwell in you richly. The effect will be the fulfilment of every good and perfect plan of God for your life.
Prayer: Father, I desire the effect of Your Word in my life. As I embrace Your Word in faith, I know my life will be transformed from glory to glory.
