Topic: Holding On To Excuses or Building Faith?

Scripture: John 5:1-9

It was quite the sight at the pool of Bethesda. There were all kinds of sick, broken, and withered folk waiting for a touch from God through the stirring of the waters. In the midst of all the groaning and pain, Jesus appears at the pool and goes to a particular man who had been there for thirty-eight years. Oh, what favour!

The moment he had been waiting for all these years was about to unfold. Jesus asked, “Do you want to be whole?” That was a faith-provoking question. But alas, the one whom God had favoured and chosen to heal did not have faith. He just had excuses. He recounted his disappointments and moments of helplessness without recognising that he was in a destiny-defining moment. Thank God for mercy that ensured he received his healing.

It’s a destiny-defining season. God has marked you for glory; for the fulfilment of His will in this time. Are you responding in faith or are you displaying your catalogue of excuses? The disappointment you feel is real. The hurts and betrayals are real. But if you hold on to them, you can miss the greater glory God has prepared for you. In this season, build up your faith to receive all that God has for you, and don’t let any excuse get in the way. It is your season, and you will not be denied.

Prayer: Father, You have chosen me and drawn me to Yourself to favour me and make me a blessing to my world. I lay down every excuse and I embrace Your will with faith.
