Topic: A New Perspective
Scripture: 1 Samuel 17:32-52
When Goliath of Gath appeared in Israel, everyone saw a giant that could not be defeated; well, everyone except David. He saw an uncircumcised Philistine who needed to be taught a lesson. The difference between David and the rest of Israel was not in what they saw but how they saw. It was not a difference in sight but in perspective. One of the determinants of perspective is position. A 50-storey building looks so high when you’re standing next to it and yet so insignificant when flying over it in an aeroplane.
One person saw Goliath from the position of a lover and worshipper of God, the rest of Israel, including tall Saul, saw from the position of mortal men. So, while Israel hid, David stepped up and defeated the nuisance who disrespected his God. If David had seen himself as a teenager fighting a warrior, he wouldn’t have stood up to Goliath. Today, many “Davids” are hiding and complaining about their giants because they are out of position.
When you accept Christ, there is a change of your position. You are placed far above principalities and powers. You have authority over all the power of the enemy. You can either view life from this perspective or view life as a human being going through life and trying to make a living. One perspective makes you more than a conqueror; the other makes you a victim. Today, the Holy Spirit is giving you the right perspective. It is time to view life from the right perspective, confront every opposition, and enforce the victory of Christ.
Prayer: Father, I take my rightful position in you, and with the right perspective, I exercise dominion.
