Topic: Burnt Or Refined In The Furnace?
Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:7-17
If you put wood in a furnace, it will be burnt up. If you put gold in the same furnace, it will be refined. The wood would lose value in the furnace, while the gold gains value. The problem is not the furnace but the quality of the material introduced into the furnace.
Nebuchadnezzar put three boys in a furnace heated 7 times because of their faith in God. The furnace was so hot that those who were throwing the boys inside it were killed. These three boys got into the furnace and had a divine visitation from the “fourth man.” They came out of the furnace with a testimony. The same experience that killed others rather brought them promotion.
The times we live in can be compared to a furnace because there is so much “heat” and pressure. People are going through tough and painful moments. But the problem is not the furnace, but the quality of the person going through it. Some are like wood, burnt and destroyed by the furnace. But for those who live by God’s word, they are like gold. The tougher things get, the greater their testimony. The quality of their life is not based on human opinion or feelings but simply on their faith in God. If you are a child of God, the furnace is not your problem. It is your environment to showcase the glory of God within you.
Meditation: Are you wood or gold? Is the quality of your life based on the Word of God?
