Topic: Guard Your Gates
Scripture Reading: Psalm 1:1-3
Throughout the scriptures, it is emphasised that God’s people must avoid ungodly influences. God created us with the ability to influence and be influenced. There is no level of spiritual maturity that insulates you from being influenced. Therefore, we must avoid environments and activities that fuel the wrong kind of influence.
Your senses are the gates to your heart. If you allow your eyes and ears to feed on things contrary to God, you begin to have deposits of ungodliness being stored up in your heart. If children are fed with all the junk in the media space through movies, music, and games, they grow up without the fear of God. If our gates are not guarded, the enemy will have free access to our lives.
On the other hand, when our eyes and ears are flooded with the knowledge of God, we become transformed to reflect what we are giving attention to. In order to become like Christ, your gates must be guarded against everything that is not aligned to Him. As you flood your heart with the glory of God, you are changed into the same image of His glory.
Meditation: What are you allowing through your gates? What kind of deposits are you making into your heart?
