Topic: You Are God’s Choice
Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 16:1-13
We live in a world where doing the right thing often brings more frustration than reward. It looks like those cutting corners are getting ahead while you are being delayed by going through the process. Virtues like patience and sacrifice sound like a disadvantage when everyone is in a hurry to be noticed.
There was a lot of buzz in the house of Jesse because Prophet Samuel was coming to offer sacrifice. Of course, we know that he was actually coming to anoint the next king of Israel. Seven of Jesse’s sons joined Samuel, and all seven were well positioned to be noticed and chosen for this great honour. The youngest son, David, was out in the field with the sheep. On a day that the next king will be anointed, David was disadvantaged because he was serving, waiting, going through the process. And yet, God by-passed those who were ahead and called for the one serving in the field.
The very thing that others thought was a disadvantage became the reference point: the shepherd boy who became king. You may be waiting, serving, or dealing with a situation that seems to interfere with your ability to step into what God has for you. But you are God’s choice, and He can bring you from the backside of a desert to the high places of the earth. You are not disqualified, disadvantaged, or delayed. You are chosen, and your time has come to shine.
Prayer: Father, thank You for choosing me, perfecting me, and positioning me by Your grace.
