Topic: When God Wants To Display His Glory

Scripture Reading: Judges 7:1-22

Facing an army of over 135,000 soldiers with your own army of 32,000 soldiers looks like an act of faith. But according to God, this is not enough to give Him all the glory. The situation must be worse than it is. Have you ever been at a point where you thought God was about to step in and save you, and He says, “Not yet!”? You felt you had faith, but things were going in reverse. God told Gideon that with 32,000 soldiers, they could assume their experience got them the victory. The situation has to get worse.

It got worse. Now Gideon has 10,000 to face 135,000. God still says it has to get “worse.” Finally, Gideon is left with a mere 300, and God said, “It’s showtime!” With 300 men against 135,000 trained soldiers, there is no way there can be victory, except God steps in. When Gideon defeated the Midianites, there was no debate about who deserved the glory. This was God at work.

If it looks like your challenges are getting bigger while your strength seems smaller, then just know that you are at the perfect spot to experience God’s glory. For those who can figure everything out and have all the connections, there is no need for faith. But for that person reading this, who feels like they are at their wits end, rejoice. God is about to display His glory in your favour.

Prayer: Father, in the midst of the turbulence, regardless of the size of the opposition, my strength and confidence is in You, and You alone. Take all the glory.
