Topic: What Is Your Exchange Rate?

Scripture Reading: Genesis 25:29-34

If someone offered you a fresh 100 cedi note or 10,000 Naira for your old crumpled 100 dollar bill, there is no way you would agree to that exchange; except if you are ignorant of the value of your 100 dollars and its exchange rate. No matter how crumpled that $100 bill looks, it is far more valuable than what has been offered.

Life is run by exchanges. You give time and skills to a company, and you are rewarded financially. You put effort into physical training, and you excel in sports. But some exchanges are too costly because what you give is far greater than what you get back. Esau gave up his birthright, a divine blessing, for a pot of stew because he was hungry. The temporal satisfaction of food was in no way worthy of a divine blessing, and yet Esau made the exchange. Hebrews 12:17 tells us how he wanted to reverse it, but it was too late.

Every day, there are Esaus who have received a divine inheritance but are giving it up because of pressure in a current season. They give up eternal rewards for temporal relief. They give up Divine approval for earthly applause and likes. They give up prayer and spiritual growth to focus on entertainment and career. What is your exchange rate? No matter the pressure of your current season, do not give up what is eternal in order to achieve what is temporal.

Meditation: What are you exchanging in this season?
