Topic: What Do You Know?
Scripture: 2 Peter 1:1-12
Some years ago, there was a popular quiz programme on television called “What Do You Know?” Contestants were quizzed on diverse topics ranging from history, sports, current affairs, etc. The more knowledgeable a contestant was, the more they excelled at the quiz and were rewarded. There were instances where a contestant was good at one subject, for example, history, and he will do well in that round and yet fail woefully in the next round of current affairs. He was only knowledgeable in one field, and so he missed out on points from other fields.
As children of God, our lives on earth can be likened to an episode of “What Do You Know?”. There are divine provisions that God has made available to every one of us. However, it is the level of knowledge we have that grants us access to what has been provided. It means a Christian can struggle in an area simply because they have no knowledge of God’s help and provision in that situation.
In Israel, the sons of Issachar were in positions of leadership because, for every season, they had knowledge of what Israel had to do. Their knowledge was their advantage. Today, we don’t need the sons of Issachar because we have someone greater; The Holy Spirit. He leads us into every knowledge we need for every season of our lives. But knowledge must be desired and sought after before it is given. You have a responsibility to go after knowledge that the Spirit of God is giving you. That divine knowledge will be your advantage on earth. It was said of Israel, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” May it be said of us, that “My people excel, because they have knowledge in abundance.”
Prayer: Father, I desire to know You and Your will for me in this season. I receive knowledge, wisdom, and understanding by the revelation of the Holy Spirit!
