Topic: Trusting God Or Trusting Self?
Scripture Reading: Proverbs 3:1-8
How did Jonah ever think he could outsmart God? A mere man whose years on earth are like a dot compared to eternity thought he could come up with a better plan than the Ancient of Days! His intelligence brought him unnecessary hardship, and it could have been worse, but for the mercies of God.
Well, maybe if we look in the mirror, we might see another Jonah. Very often, even though we don’t voice it out, we live as though we have the better plan. We are too busy to trust God because we know what to do. We don’t need to pray and ask for His counsel because we are busy pursuing our thoughts. Waiting on God seems unnecessary when you can get all the answers you want on the internet. Oh, the folly of human wisdom outside of God.
You don’t need to learn the hard way. There are more than enough examples to prove that human wisdom is limited and often futile. But for those of us who carry the Holy Spirit, we have access to the mind of God, and His wisdom for our lives is our guarantee. True wisdom is to acknowledge that no matter how much you think you know, God has a better plan.
Prayer: Father, I put my trust in You because Your way is always better than mine.
