Topic: Trust In God’s Provision

Scripture: 1 Kings 17:1-16

The generosity of our Father is available to every one of us. When Adam was created, God placed him in a garden of abundant supply. He didn’t need to worry about how he would survive. For every assignment and vision God gives you, He also makes available the resources and help you need. It may not come the way you expect it, but it will always come.

Elijah stood before Ahab and declared that there would be no rain or dew in Israel until he declared otherwise. Israel was going to experience famine. Elijah had no plan for his sustenance during the famine, but God had gone ahead of him to make provision. Ravens brought him bread and meat every morning and evening. And he drank from the brook. When the brook dried up, God had already prepared a widow to feed Elijah. When he met the widow, she was struggling to feed herself. But Elijah was confident that the Lord would sustain him through her, just as He had said. Indeed, in the midst of famine, the man of God enjoyed the provisions of God.

God is our source. He uses men to meet our needs, and we must appreciate the people He uses; but ultimately, we depend on God. In the most difficult and dry circumstances, God can make you flourish. He can cause rain to fall in the desert, He can give silver and gold in the place of bondage. No matter where you find yourself, you can trust in God’s provision.

Prayer: Father, my eyes are fixed on You alone. You are my good Shepherd, and You supply all my needs.
