Topic: The Perfect Mirror

Scripture: James 1:22-25

Man came up with mirrors because no matter how intelligent or sophisticated we are, we cannot properly judge our appearance and surroundings without external help. We need help to make sure our hair is presentable, the make-up is not chaotic, and our clothes look good on us. Without mirrors, we could make assumptions that could be costly, that is why we fit them on vehicles. The job of the mirror is to give us a reflection we can use to make the right decisions and adjustments.

And just as it is for our outer bodies, we need a mirror for our inner man, to see if our character needs adjustment, to help us increase faith, and to appreciate the fact that righteousness looks good on us. The Word of God is the mirror for our inner man, that helps us conform to the image of the Son of God. Without it, we would make costly assumptions in our walk with God and fulfilment of purpose.

There are mirrors that give a distorted reflection. The opinions of people and the expectations of society will always give you a distorted view of who you truly are. It is impossible to make an accurate assessment of our lives outside of the mirror of God’s Word because it contains the blueprint of God’s plan for man. It has the principles, promises, and prophecies, that help us align to God’s will. As you commit to a life of consistent study of the Word, the Spirit of God will lead you to see your true self in order to properly reflect the glory of God.

Prayer: Father, open my eyes to see in Your Word, who You made me to be. Let Your Spirit guide me to conform to the image of Jesus.
