Topic: The Author and Perfector
Scripture: Genesis 25:20-28
In Paul’s letter to the Galatians, we see Him use very strong words to express his displeasure because, like many people today, they started a journey in the Spirit and then began to rely on their own ability. People seek the face of God to start a business, marriage, career, etc, and then choose to follow their own reasoning when issues arise. Paul said to them, “How foolish can you be? After starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?” (Galatians 3:3)
For almost twenty years, Rebekah had been unable to conceive. But a time came when her husband prayed to God on her behalf, and she became pregnant. When she began to experience discomfort during the pregnancy, she did not rely on human advice. She knew who the author of this testimony was and knew He would also be the perfector. Indeed, God revealed to her what no man would have been able to.
When you begin with God, stay with God. Don’t switch to your own strength in the middle of your journey. The same God who gives grace to begin will give you grace to accomplish. But when you choose your own path, you corrupt the testimony. Know this today, that your Father is Author and Perfector.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for every good thing You have started in my life. I trust You and I know You will perfect and accomplish it for Your glory.
