Topic: Stay With God, No Matter What
Scripture: Ruth 1:1-6
There are times when, as people of God, the enemy will make it seem like it’s more difficult and stressful to live for God. He can paint a deceptive picture to lure you out of the safety of God’s will or make you become frustrated and impatient towards the path God has placed you on. Many people have fallen prey to this tactic, thinking they can find a better life outside God’s will.
In the book of Ruth, we see Elimelech fall prey to this deception. He moved his family from Bethlehem in Judah to the gentile land of Moab because there was famine in Judah. He wanted a better life for himself and his family, and he saw that the people living in Moab were much more comfortable than those in Judah. So he left the godly environment to live in Moab, a nation that is an enemy to the people of God. In the end, Elimelech and his two sons die in Moab, leaving Naomi behind with two daughters-in-law. And around that same time, news came that God had visited Judah with abundance.
Elimelech did not realize that there is no true fulfilment outside of God. Thankfully, Naomi was able to return to Bethlehem to receive restoration. The plan of the enemy is not to make you comfortable, but to steal, kill, and destroy. For those who stay with God, no matter how tough the season looks, it will always end in praise. Stay with God!
Prayer: Father, my confidence is in You. I choose to trust You, no matter my circumstances or challenges.
