Topic: Shut Out The Noise

Scripture Reading: Nehemiah 6:9-16

There is one trait that is consistent in everyone who has succeeded; be it in ministry, sports, academia, or business. It is the ability to ignore detractors and stay focused. Mockery, distractions, and unfair criticisms are strategies that the enemy uses to keep us from stepping out in faith to accomplish great things for God. Sometimes, the noise can be from our own minds due to past experiences or the fear of failure.

Nehemiah had been given an assignment by God to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. And God was faithful to provide everything that Nehemiah needed. But Nehemiah still had to deal with mockers and doubters, two of whom were Tobiah and Sanballat. These people tried to resist and belittle the efforts of Nehemiah in an attempt to discourage him, but thank God Nehemiah prevailed. He stuck to the assignment and ignored the noise. And when the wall was completed, the people acknowledged that this was done by God.

We still have people like Tobiah and Sanballat around who will try to discourage you and water down your faith. They use the excuse of common sense to push people out of faith. Out of envy, they belittle your vision. But as Paul said, “let God be true, and every man a liar!” Shut your ears to mockers, and press on in faith to pursue the vision God has given you. If God said it, just believe it; that settles it!

Prayer: Father, in the midst of the noise, I keep my eyes on You, and I hold on to Your Word.
