Topic: Receiving God’s Instructions
Scripture: 2 Kings 5:1-14
“Aren’t the rivers of Damascus better than all the rivers of Israel?” This was the statement Naaman made when he was told to go dip in the Jordan river seven times. He thought of his status as a great general of the Syrian army and felt that he was too big for such an instruction. But Naaman had to remember that in spite of his status as a general, beneath that armour, he was a leper. His status could not cure him. The “better rivers” in Damascus could not help him. His arrogance and lack of spiritual understanding nearly cost him his healing. Thankfully, he came to his senses.
The instructions of God can often seem ridiculous to our natural way of thinking. That is because the logic of the natural mind is far below the wisdom of God, and without the Holy Spirit, our minds are blinded from understanding. Like Naaman, we can be focused on impressing people with the outer armour, rarher than submitting to God to heal the hidden leprosy.
God desires to perfect all that concerns you, and make you a witness of His glorious power. But you must first receive His Word and instructions for your life, in faith. Rather than judge God’s word by your reasoning, let the Word of God be the standard by which you live. Come up to a higher standard and let the Word of God transform you from the inside out.
Prayer: Father, flood my heart with light so that I can walk in the path You have ordained for me.
