Topic: Put Your Faith To Work
Scripture Reading: Matthew 8:23-27
What is your response when life shows up with a storm? How do you react when faced with a challenge you weren’t prepared to handle? Well, some of the most common responses people have are fear, panic, anxiety, frustration, and anger. I believe the disciples had a combination of these responses as they faced a great storm on their way to Gadarenes. As the ship was being tossed by the waves, they were in panic mode, and to their utmost frustration, Jesus was asleep.
It is interesting to note that when Jesus woke up, he first addressed their fear before dealing with the actual storm. Their lack of faith was a bigger concern to Jesus than a raging storm. And it remains true today that your response is more important to God than the situation ahead of you. The only acceptable response is a Faith response.
Faith is a response that is anchored on the Word of God, giving you authority over the issues of life. Jesus demonstrated this response by rebuking the winds and waves, and there was a great calm. You may be facing an intimidating situation right now, and you probably have had the same emotions the disciples had when the storm showed up. But you can have a better response; a response of authority that will glorify your Father. Put your faith to work. Address that storm in the name of Jesus, and be at peace. When you put your faith to work, you open the door for the power of God to intervene.
Meditation: Is there a situation that is demanding a faith response from you?
