Topic: Play The Victim or Claim The Victory
Scripture Reading: Acts 28:1-6
276 people had just survived a shipwreck. And as they were on the island called Melita, a venomous snake fastened itself to one of the men and bit him. That man was Apostle Paul. Of all the 276 people who had just survived the shipwreck, it was the preacher, the man on divine assignment, God’s beloved, who got bitten by a snake. It was a good place to ask “why”. “Why me?” “I have been faithful in my duties. Why did this happen?” “I have a prophetic word; why this?” The people on the island even thought the snake bite was punishment from God.
But Paul knew God well enough not to waste his time asking why. He did not even bother trying to explain himself to those who thought he was being punished. He just exercised his authority.
“But he shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm.” – Acts 28:5. He did not play victim. He claimed victory.
Dear Saint, there is no time to play victim. There is a glorious destiny ahead of you, but there are also serpents and scorpions; situations that will try to attack your faith, break your focus, and alter your opinion about yourself. However, Jesus has given us authority over the serpents and scorpions of life. They might attempt to bite or sting, but you can shake them off. They shall not hurt you. Magnify your God-given authority above every situation of life, because the Greater One lives in you. Your victory is certain.
Prayer: Father, I thank you for victory in every area of my life. I am not a victim because I am empowered to overcome all things.
