Topic: No Other Name
Scripture Reading: Acts 19:13-17
“By what power, or by what name have you done this?” This was the question posed to Peter and John after they had healed a man that was born lame. There is only one answer to that question: the name Jesus! That is the only name with power to save, heal, and deliver. If we could figure life out on our own, there would have been no need for a Saviour. But alas, man proved that he could not thrive outside God, and so, through Jesus, we can be all that God designed us to be.
But the name Jesus is not a charm or magic word that responds just because you mentioned it. The power in the name comes from your knowledge of the Person bearing the name. You cannot have the power in the name if you do not have a relationship with the Person. The sons of Sceva thought they could just mention the name and experience power. But they were ignorant of the Person, and so they were beaten by a devil that knew the truth.
Today, we find people who are ignorant of the power in the name Jesus, so they use it for memes, skits, and jokes. But for those of us who know Him, we can say, there is no other name in heaven or on earth with power to save. We treasure the name, and we experience power because we know and treasure the Person.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for granting me power and authority through the name Jesus, my Lord, and saviour.
