Topic: It’s Worth The Wait

Scripture: Genesis 29:14-28

For seven years, Jacob laboured and served Laban with only one reward in mind. He wasn’t going to get paid at the end of the month. There was no loyalty bonus, no employee of the month award. Jacob wanted one thing; to get married to Rachel, the one he loved. Laban would eventually trick him at the end of 7 years and give him Leah. But Jacob did not settle. He was willing to serve for another 7 years because he believed Rachel was worth it.

Not everyone saw Rachel the way Jacob did. He saw her differently. He waited for seven years joyfully without murmuring because he was convinced about the value of the reward. To him, it felt like a few days. Only Jacob can truly tell us why he waited so long. It’s just like how Paul was ready to go to Jerusalem even when there were prophecies of how he would be arrested and imprisoned. Paul was persuaded about going to Jerusalem just like how Jacob was persuaded about Rachel.

It is difficult to wait on God without being persuaded about the reward. Many people complain and get frustrated because they have no revelation of what’s ahead, neither do they know the character of the One who has promised. But when you know He is faithful, you count it all joy, even when it is uncomfortable, because the discomfort of waiting cannot be compared to the weight of glory prepared for you. Today, may you receive a greater understanding of God’s love for you and an assurance of His good plans for your life.

Prayer: Father, by the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, I receive knowledge and understanding of the glory You have prepared for me, and I receive strength to wait on You.
