Topic: It’s Time To Suit Up

Scripture: Matthew 22:1-14

When a person suits up, they put on a special suit or uniform in order to take part in a special activity or join a team. The assignment or activity determines the suit. If you were going to join a team of astronauts to explore the moon, you wouldn’t go and get yourself a brand new tuxedo or gown because it is not the right attire. You would need a spacesuit. The demands of that altitude require a particular garment. Just like if you wanted to join the Fire Service, you would need a particular suit that will allow you to operate in fire.

Many people want to attain certain heights in life by God’s help, and yet they don’t have the right suit. Jesus gave a parable of the Kingdom, which is recorded in our anchor text. A king invites everyone by the highways to his son’s wedding ceremony after his invitation was turned down by certain dignitaries. However, the king noticed one guest who did not have the right garment, and he ordered his servants to cast him out. It was not enough to be available. The guest had to be suited up.

You must have the right suit for the glory God is leading you into. It is not a garment of the outer man but a garment of your spirit that affirms your identity as a son of God. The devil will want to sell you a party costume when you should be getting a spacesuit. He will sell you fear, anxiety, pride, and self-centredness when you need to be clothed in humility, wisdom, and love. It is time to suit up. God is taking you higher.

Meditation: Using Colossians 3:12-14 and Ephesians 6:13-18, examine yourself to see if you’re suited up.
