Topic: It Is Not In Vain

Scripture: Mark 10:28-31

We serve a God of purpose. With Him, everything has meaning, and every investment must yield fruits. God has not called us to meaningless routine or empty activities. Indeed, Hebrews 11:6 tells us that God is pleased when people recognise Him as a rewarder. This implies that it is offensive to think that God just wants you to serve without reward, to give without expectation, or sow without harvest.

The disciples came to Jesus to find out if there was a reward for their commitment to him after forsaking their jobs and the comfort of their homes. Jesus didn’t rebuke them or describe them as carnal for thinking of rewards. Rather, he assured them that they would be rewarded, on earth, and in eternity. Every sacrifice that is offered to God provokes a reward; whether it is time, resources, or service.

But it is important to note that God looks at the heart before the act. The rewards of God come to those whose hearts are true. Therefore, in our service to God and our sacrifices for the Kingdom, we must rely on the Holy Spirit to keep us true. Rest assured that your sacrifice for the Kingdom of God is not in vain. In due time, the fruits will show.

Prayer: Father, I believe that You are my Rewarder. Thank you for the abundant harvest that is coming my way.
