Topic: Identifying The Enemy

Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

“Get behind me, Satan.” This was Jesus’ response when Peter suggested that he did not have to be crucified. Jesus gave an aggressive response to what appeared as friendly advice. In spite of Peter’s intentions and the fact that he was one of the three trusted disciples, Jesus discerned that the conversation had become an attack of Satan on his assignment. After that rebuke, Peter remained a key disciple of Jesus. So Jesus did not have a problem with Peter, but with the influence behind the words he spoke.

A lot of people see spiritual warfare as a contention or attack by people who don’t like them. But, the truth is, we are not fighting against people. Our real enemy is Satan and his armies, and they can influence anyone against you; friend or foe. Any activity or conversation that attacks your faith and goes against God’s word for your life is being influenced by Satan, no matter who is being used. So when we engage in warfare, we are not going against people, but the satanic influence that wants to corrupt God’s plan for our lives.

Our warfare is against the carnal conversations of the world, the corruption in the media that seeks to lure innocent hearts, the cunning attempt to corrupt children through subtle themes in movies and music. The enemy’s darts can come through any means because we are not dealing with humans. Therefore, be vigilant and discerning at all times. We have been spiritually equipped to deal with every satanic influence. Stand in your authority and shut down every influence of hell against your life, family, and assignment.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the authority I have through Jesus, to overcome every strategy of hell against my life.
