Topic: God’s Love Language
Scripture Reading: John 14:15-24
A person’s love language reveals how they typically receive and express love. If a person has a love language of quality time, they could appreciate it if you buy them gifts but they will feel more loved if you would rather spend time with them. So if you shower them with expensive gifts, and yet you are too busy to spend time with them, you have not shown love to them, by their standards.
God showed His love to us by giving up His only Son to die for our sins, according to the demands of the law, in order to reconcile us to Himself. God also has a language through which He expects us to show our love for Him. That language is obedience.
By God’s standards, to love Him is to obey His Word. No amount of offering or singing or dancing will please God if you are in disobedience. When Jesus was on earth, He was loved by the Father, not because of the miracles, but because of His obedience. We can also enjoy the awesome presence and power of God by speaking His love language – OBEDIENCE!
