“‘This is amazing,’ Moses said to himself. ‘Why isn’t that bush burning up? I must go see it.’ When the Lord saw Moses coming to take a closer look, God called to him from the middle of the bush, ‘Moses! Moses!’” – Exodus 3:3-4
The church is entering an exciting phase where we will see a greater manifestation of the supernatural power of God in the lives of His saints. This is not going to be reserved for the clergy or religious “superstars.” It is for anyone who is hungry enough to yield themselves for the Master’s use. It is for people like the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well; people like Gideon, trapped under the rule of an oppressive regime; people like Ruth the Moabitess who was seen as an outsider; or people like Luke, the gentile physician whose contribution to the New Testament cannot be overemphasized. God is no respecter of persons. If you are truly hungry, you will be filled.
However, no matter our background, we cannot be loyal to the natural and expect to walk in the supernatural. We need the willingness to respond when God interrupts our schedule. We must always be ready to surrender the mundane in order to pursue our higher calling in God.
In Exodus 3, the bible begins by introducing to us, Moses’ new lifestyle. He is living in Midian, married to the daughter of the priest of Midian, and is diligently tending the flock of his father-in-law. For someone who was wanted for murder forty years ago, it is safe to say, Moses had done well to find stability and normalcy. One encounter with God was enough to end his normal, ordinary routine.
God showed Moses a glimpse of the supernatural, through a bush in flames that did not burn up. So great was his hunger, Moses said, ‘I must go see it.’ The bible then gives us a profound revelation; God waited for Moses to leave the sheep for the burning bush before calling him. His ability to let go of his routine for a glimpse of the supernatural, opened him up to a life of unparalleled power in his generation.
Jesus interrupted Peter’s stable life as a fisherman. When Peter responded, he was ushered into the supernatural life of an Apostle.
Mary’s wedding plans were interrupted because she was going to birth the Saviour of the world.
The woman at Jacob’s well forgot about her bucket of water when she perceived the supernatural. She became the recipient of God’s truth concerning worship.
Gear up, because God is about to interrupt your normal to make you an instrument of the Supernatural. If you are already experiencing God’s interruption, be of good courage, for God who has called and separated you, does not fail. Indeed, while it may look like an interruption, it is actually an elevation. God is taking you higher.
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” – Ephesians 2:10
Press on, because your generation will see the power of God through your life. The interruption is for your elevation. Shalom.
