Topic: Freedom From Anxiety

Scripture Reading: Matthew 6:25-34

Christians are not immune to anxiety. The issues of life and the challenges we face provide enough reason to be anxious. It usually begins as an emotional or mental response to something stressful or fearful, but that creates a fertile ground for doubt and the spirit of fear to take over. Anxiety grants the enemy access to a person’s heart to pull down their faith. It distorts the truth and makes you live in a false reality where fear seems more powerful than God.

Moses sent twelve spies to the promised land. All twelve spies had seen the miracles God did in Egypt. All twelve spies saw the red sea part, had eaten manna from heaven, and were witnesses of God’s incredible power. And yet, when they saw the giants of Canaan, ten of the twelve spies forgot every miracle they had seen and began to magnify the threat before them. The spirit of fear took over, and they spread that fear all over the camp. Caleb’s antidote to anxiety was to magnify the faithfulness of God above the giants. He didn’t dismiss the presence of giants. He just acknowledged that God was far greater than the challenge.

When faced with anxiety, our defence must be to magnify the faithfulness of God and receive His help. If He is intentional about birds and flowers, you can rest assured that He is mindful of you. Anxiety will try to take your mind off God, focusing on your desires, weaknesses, and fears. But, anytime you acknowledge God in prayer, praise, and thanksgiving, you break the chains of anxiety and soar with wings of faith.

Meditation: Are you anxious about anything? It is time to acknowledge God in prayer, celebrate His faithfulness, and ask for His help.
