Topic: Frame Your World

Scripture: 1 Kings 13:1-26

Have you ever felt so confident about something you were doing or perhaps a dress you were wearing until someone passed a comment about it, and all of a sudden, your confidence was gone? Or it could be the reverse. You were sure you would never do certain things until someone pushed you into it. Very often, we experience chaos in our lives simply because we allow the wrong people to speak into our lives and alter our perspective. We are tossed about with every wind because there is no frame around our world.

In our anchor text, a young man of God was diligently following God’s instructions until an old prophet came to speak to him. God had instructed the young man to deliver a message to Jeroboam, and he was not allowed to eat, drink, or even return on the same path. But he gave ear to this old prophet who lied and convinced him to go against God’s instructions. That same day, the young man of God died, and the old prophet was the one narrating the story of his disobedience.

There are many people like the old prophet who are eager to give you wrong counsel and influence your decisions. If you allow their words into your heart, they will lead you astray. But you must frame your world by identifying the voices that are sent from God and those that are from the devil. Not every piece of advice or counsel is for you; not every word of wisdom is true. Frame your world with the Word of God, and you will stand against every lying voice.

Prayer: Father, by Your word, I frame my world. Be it unto me according to Your word alone.
