Topic: Following Jesus
Scripture Reading: Luke 9:18-26
The decision to follow Jesus is not a one-time event. Receiving salvation is done once and doesn’t need to be repeated. But the decision to follow the leadership of Christ must be done daily. Your yieldedness or surrender from yesterday does not guarantee your surrender today.
Following Jesus begins with denying yourself daily. It means you don’t just do what you want or follow your own thoughts and plans. Every day, there must be a conscious decision to let go of what we think is right in order to follow God’s instructions for us.
Popular culture will talk about living “your truth” and following your heart. But in the Kingdom, we deny ourselves and surrender to the King each day. And what a blessing it is to yield to the King, because that is how we fully enjoy the benefits of His glorious Kingdom.
Meditation: There are things to let go of, in order to effectively follow Jesus. Are you willing to make this decision daily?
