Topic: Finding Your Strength In God

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 30:1-19

One of David’s lowest moments was when the Amalekites raided Ziklag, the city where David’s family and the families of all his men were dwelling. They captured the people and burnt the city. David’s place of comfort was gone, his family was gone, and to worsen issues, his trusted soldiers were in so much anguish, they thought of stoning him. Every earthly thing that gave David confidence was gone.

This is the point that people get to, and they give up on life, give up on their dreams, get into depression, or even become suicidal. The structures on which their lives were built collapsed, and they could not find an answer. But David found an answer. He had a source of strength that never fails and remains unchanged. When everything looked bleak and hopeless, David found strength in God to pursue, overtake, and recover all.

There will be times when the structures upon which you derive strength will fail. Nothing earthly has the capacity to remain the same forever. But there is an eternal source of strength available to you. God wants you to flourish in the midst of the furnace. It doesn’t matter what has failed or who gave up on you. If you can find your strength in God, you will pursue, overtake, and recover all that God has for you.

Prayer: Lord, You are my strength. In the midst of the trials and the storms, I will not be shaken because You are with me.
