Topic: Finding The Courage To Confront Barriers

Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 31:3-8

Whenever courage is mentioned or required, it signifies the presence of opposition, resistance, fear, or danger. Courage makes you move, even though, naturally speaking, there is no guarantee of success or safety. A definition of courage we can use is, “the application of faith in the face of fear.”

As Moses gave his final charge to Israel, he repeatedly mentioned courage because they needed to confront certain strong nations in order to receive what God had given them. Some of these nations had great armies, and it would seem better to just stay in the wilderness rather than confront them. But to showcase the glory of God, we must be ready to confront every opposition. The testimony of Israel was hinged on their ability to confront these nations and forcefully take what God had given them.

If you are going to experience all that God has prepared for you on earth, then you will need courage, the ability to move in faith, when fear seems like a natural reaction. Fear will keep you in the same spot, never reaching for the prize ahead, playing the victim rather than being an overcomer. But there is a charge to God’s chosen people to find courage, to confront opposition, pull down barriers, and move in faith into the fulfilment of God’s will for this season.

Prayer: Father, I know You have gone ahead of me. Therefore, I step out courageously to obtain all that you have prepared for me.
