Topic: Find Your Judah

Scripture Reading: Genesis 29:16-35

Leah found herself in a very uncomfortable and almost depressing situation. She was married to a man who did not love her but loved her younger sister. Jacob was tricked into marrying Leah so you would expect him to seem indifferent about her, especially when Rachel, his preferred choice, was available. Leah was dealing with rejection.

As Leah gave birth to each of her first three sons, she hoped it would win Jacob over, but nothing changed. Then came Leah”s moment of freedom. She stopped focusing on Jacob and turned her attention to God. She named her fourth son, Judah, which means praise. Judah would become the lineage through which we would have David, and eventually, Jesus. Leah might have been rejected by Jacob, but she was chosen by God to birth the lineage of the Messiah.

You are too precious to be bothered about people who can’t see your worth. Rather than struggling to win them over, find your Judah: focus your energy on praising God. As you focus on your Father, His glory on you will attract every other thing to you. Even if people can’t see it, know that you are special and precious to God.

Prayer: Father, I fix my eyes on You. And in all circumstances, I will praise You.
