Topic: Disappointment vs Divine Setup
Scripture: Exodus 5:19-23; 6:1
Whenever we have to obey a divine instruction or pursue a vision or embark on a new chapter that God is leading us into, we usually have so much confidence and hope in the expected end. In our mind, we already see testimonies and breakthroughs because God is the one leading us. And because it is God at work, we believe there will be no setbacks or disappointments. Because of this mindset, when people encounter a setback, they begin to question if it is God leading them. They give in to doubt.
When Moses and Aaron made their way to Pharaoh for the first time, they probably thought they were going to return as heroes. “We’ll deliver the message, do the miracles with the rod, Pharoah will be amazed, and then he will release Israel.” To their shock, Pharoah refused to release Israel. In fact, he was so furious that he increased their workload. Moses and Aaron returned, not as heroes but as troublemakers. Moses, in his disappointment, went to God to find out why it didn’t work. But God said it actually worked according to plan! The disappointment was actually a divine setup for God to show His power in Israel.
There is no failure in God. Nothing in heaven, earth, or hell can stop Him from fulfilling His word to you. Things may not have gone the way you expected it to, but you must remember, it will go according to God’s plan, not yours. Therefore, when we encounter disappointments and hurdles, we need to respond in faith. We must go to our Father because with Him, every disappointment is actually a setup for a greater testimony. You can confidently say to yourself, “In this situation, I will see the glory of God.”
Prayer: Father, I know Your plans for me are good, and they cannot fail. So I praise You even in setbacks and disappointments because I will see Your glory in my life.
