Topic: Build Capacity for God’s Glory
Scripture: John 2:1-11
“Fill the waterpots with water.” That was the instruction Jesus gave before the miracle of turning water to wine. There wouldn’t have been a miracle if the waterpots remained empty because the manifestation of God’s glory on earth is a partnership between God and man. The servants filled the pots, and Jesus produced the wine. If they had filled only one pot with water, there would have been one pot of wine. The capacity to which the pots were filled determined the capacity of glory they experienced.
We see this principle in 2 Kings 4 when the wife of a prophet came to Elisha for help concerning her debts. There was a supernatural supply of oil. But the supply was dependent on her capacity; the number of vessels that were available. To ensure that she had enough capacity for the miracle, Elisha told her to borrow as many vessels as possible. Her preparation determined the extent of the miracle. When there were no more empty jars, the supply stopped. She had enough to sort out her debts and live comfortably.
There are many people who have been chosen to experience God’s glory, but they have not built capacity. They are content with empty waterpots, and yet God is waiting for them to fill the pots with water so He can move. God is waiting for your act of faith in order to respond with His glory. When you limit your faith, you limit the degree to which God can express Himself in your life. It is time to build capacity, build up your faith, and take steps that show that you are ready for the Big God to show up and show off in your life.
Prayer: Father, by the help of Your Spirit, I prepare myself for the glory You have for me in this season. By faith, I build capacity to receive all that You have for me.
