Topic: A Bloody Good Friday
Scripture Reading: Romans 5:1-10
A day of pain, betrayal, open disgrace, and finally, death on a cross. Yet, we do not call it painful Friday. If we define the day by the events that were seen, it cannot be good. Jesus was beaten, mocked, and crucified when he had done no wrong. The people preferred a thief being released rather than Jesus being set free. But through an understanding of God’s divine plan, we see love, indescribable love at work.
Every stripe brought us healing. Every pain he endured brought us peace. And when he was finally nailed to the cross and pierced at his side, he paid for our sins once and for all. Good Friday brought us eternal victory and everlasting life, setting us free from every form of bondage. Love rescued us and led us back to God.
It was bloody, brutal, and messy. But in the end, it was glorious and wonderful. It was, and still is, good. The same God is the author of your story. No matter the mess, the pain, and struggle, it is good. The same love that was shown on good Friday is working out your victory every day.
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your love that has reconciled me to You through the sacrifice of Jesus, my Saviour and Lord.
