Topic: On Earth As It Is In Heaven

Scripture: 1 Kings 17:8-16

There is a vast difference between heaven and earth. Heaven is described as God’s throne (Isaiah 66:1). It is the environment of God where His will is done with no opposition, contention, or obstruction. Earth is the domain God has given to man. God is the creator, but He has chosen not to interfere with earth except in partnership with men on earth. However, Jesus taught us to pray, asking that God’s will be done on earth just as it is done in heaven. It means we must ensure that operations of earth are a reflection of the operations of heaven. Very often, this is not the case.

In our anchor text, Prophet Elijah is given the plan from heaven for his survival during the drought. A widow in Zarephath would sustain him. When Elijah meets this widow, on earth, she can’t even sustain herself and her son. They are about to eat their last meal and wait for death, and yet, heaven describes her as the one to sustain Elijah for many days. Elijah declares a prophetic word that shifts this woman from her earthly reality to the heavenly one. With her last portion of flour and oil, she is able to sustain the prophet, her son, and herself. What was established in heaven was seen on earth.

You may be feeling like the widow of Zarephath because the expectations of heaven are not reflective of your reality on earth. But like Elijah, you have power in your mouth to declare a word that will shift things to align with heaven. On earth, you may seem weak and vulnerable, but you can shift that reality. Use your authority in Christ to enforce God’s will on earth, as it is in heaven.

Prayer: Father, I embrace Your will for my life. Let it be to me on earth as it is in heaven.
