Topic: Something Greater Is At Work In You
Scripture Reading: Romans 8:1-11
Everything on earth is subject to the law of gravity, which pulls objects to the ground. Anything that is thrown up or jumps up doesn’t keep going up because gravity pulls it down. And yet, aircrafts have found a way to overcome this law, flying long distances in air without being pulled down. Man found a law that could overcome gravity. Through lift and thrust, these large aircrafts have a power at work in them that won’t allow them to be pulled to the ground.
There is a spiritual law at work in humans called the law of sin and death. This law ensures that humans can never measure up to God’s standards. It disqualifies people from walking in righteousness and experiencing God’s glory. No matter how hard they try to live right, they would always be condemned. But if you belong to Christ, there is another law, a greater law, working in you. It is the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. This law says you are free from condemnation, from sin, and from the judgement coming to the world. You are in right standing with God.
When you see people consistently falling to sin or struggling to please God, remind yourself of the greater law working within you. That law attracts God’s grace and favour. It preserves you from evil, and it will make you overcome every trap of the evil one. Just as lift and thrust enables planes to overcome gravity, the law of the Spirit in you overcomes condemnation. You have a greater power at work in you.
Prayer: Father, thank You for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, which empowers me to live above sin and condemnation.
