Topic: The Christ Model
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 15:45-49
One term that is used in the world of inventions is the word, Prototype. It means the first version of a product from which all other versions are developed. Inventors look at the prototype in order to manufacture multiple versions of the product, like a car or a robot. It can also be a person who first embodies the key characteristics of a concept or a particular group.
Before men understood the concept of prototypes, God already had it in place. He created Adam as the prototype for mankind. However, when this prototype fell from glory, everyone who came from his lineage was also disqualified from glory. God, therefore, provided another prototype, Jesus Christ, so that all those who are modelled after Him can experience the glory they missed in the first prototype.
When we become born-again, Christ becomes the model we follow. We are no more just carnal bodies of dust with a soul. We become spiritual bodies, carrying a Life-giving Spirit. Our lives become fashioned after Christ, so that we no longer harbour sin, but we experience glory. We carry the Spirit that Jesus had. We can operate in the same power that He operated in and show the same love and compassion that He showed. We fully represent God on earth. That is the Christ model we belong to. Any child of God who does not reflect that model is malfunctioning.
Meditation: Is your life a reflection of Adam or a reflection of Christ?
