Topic: Don’t Tolerate What Must Be Changed
Scripture Reading: Acts 16:16-18
Paul and Silas were preaching in the city of Philippi when they encountered a girl with a spirit of divination. She became a nuisance to them because she kept following them, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God . . .” On the surface, it looked harmless, but because of the spirit at work, it was so irritating to Paul.
Having endured her for many days, Paul finally had enough of this nuisance. He utilised his authority in Christ and rebuked the evil spirit out of her. He was tired of tolerating the situation when he had the power to change it. If he had remained silent, it would have persisted.
If you are a child of God, with the Holy Spirit dwelling in you, then you carry the same power to effect change. When we see the enemy trying to interfere with our joy and peace, with our families and loved ones, we must exercise the authority we have in Christ to effect change. We must not remain silent to the nuisance of hell. The good news is that the devil has no choice but to obey when we exercise our authority in Christ. Stop tolerating and start changing the things you have been empowered to change.
Meditation: What are the areas of your life that require you to exercise the authority you have in Christ Jesus?
