God is not just with us, He dwells in us. We are the temple that houses His presence. But God does not just want to be a silent passenger in our lives. We have been chosen to be the stage on which He displays power and glory to the world. He has placed the precious treasure of His glory within us, and through our lives, the world can appreciate His goodness.
” . . . for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for He called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” – 1 Peter 2:9
We are entering a season where God is revealing Himself in a greater dimension through His people. Ordinary people are going to express extraordinary power because God is at work in them. In this study, we will look at the process God takes us through in order for us to express His glory in this season. Broadly speaking, there are three main stages God takes us through.
- Encountering the light of God’s glory.
The first stage of this process is an encounter with God’s light, which refers to the knowledge of God’s glory which is given to us by the Holy Spirit. We receive revelation and insight into the ways of God.
“For God, who said, ‘Let there be light in the darkness,’ has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 4:6
“I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those He called – His holy people who are His rich and glorious inheritance.” – Ephesians 1:18
God does not want us to operate in ignorance. The more we know Him, the more we can reveal Him.
- The Restructuring.
God does not dwell in chaos or disorder. A preacher once said, “God will not bless a mess,” and that is so true. The carnal nature of man goes against the will of God. The restructuring phase is a place where God aligns our thoughts and desires with His will. We let go of anything that does not please God, and grow in our relationship with Him.
“Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” – Romans 12:2
It is often called a crushing stage, the wilderness or a place of brokenness because we learn to surrender to the will of God, and become transformed
to fulfill our God-given purpose. It may seem uncomfortable but just like gold going through a furnace, the restructuring phase will make you refined for glory.
- The Birthing.
God’s glory is not coming down from heaven, it is coming through your life. God has placed it within you, and it is your responsibility to work it out for others to see.
“Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.” – Philippians 2:12b-13
“Let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” – Matthew 5:16
God will place His people in situations that will bring out the glory within them. People need answers, and God created you to be an answer. In the birthing stage, you work out the glory God has placed in you. Your life will no longer be a reflection of your efforts, because God’s glory will amplify everything you do. When people see the results of your life, they can only acknowledge that it is God at work.
Conclusion
It doesn’t matter how weak you are, God has chosen you to be a channel through which He will touch others and establish His Kingdom on earth. You carry divine treasure. Don’t be afraid or discouraged as God takes you through the process of transformation, because He will surely perfect all that concerns you. It may look uncomfortable and seem uncertain, but stay with God. When He is through with you, you will come forth as gold.
